These release notes provide information on the new features, enhancements, resolved escalations, and bug fixes completed in each release for the YouTube card, which is too an Appspace supported carte du jour.

For each release, the updates are pushed to the menu template in the Library. Cards created prior to the latest release will non receive the latest updates. To become the latest feature or issues fix for this carte du jour, the card must be recreated with the latest template.

YouTube Embedded URL Update

Due to a recent alter in how YouTube processes its embedded URLs for videos and playlists, existing YouTube cards may fail to load or display YouTube videos, while displaying the "Video Unavailable" error message.

Appspace is aware and has fixed this issue in the latest YouTube Card 2.2.2, and recommends customers experiencing issues with their existing YouTube cards, to recreate and configure their YouTube card content using the latest version, as existing cards will not be automatically updated one time created.

  • AE-7065 – Unable to load YouTube video on YouTube card due to an embedded URL event.

YouTube Native Player Compliance

Updated Carte Theme

The following updates have been made to the card theme:

  • The card theme has been updated in the Library with a new design, improving menu standardization.
  • The card base theme volition not be generated during deployment, as the BaseCardTemplate property has been set to false in the manifest.json file in the card template.
  • The default fonts have been updated to the following:
    • Header text = Poppin font, previously Monserrat.
    • Trunk text = Roboto font, previously Lato.
  • The card template has been assigned to employ the "Culture and Values" as the default content category.
Introducing Card Content Categories

With the introduction of Content Categories in Appspace eight.0 ac.22, all card themes will exist assigned with a default content category, allowing organizations to create content, build channels, and target messaging co-ordinate to workplace communications best practices and internal communication goals.

These content categories can be changed during bill of fare creation by the Publisher or Writer, as the bill of fare theme has been assigned a content category based on the messaging focus. These content categories are defined as follows:

  • Civilisation & Values – Content that promotes company values and affects the employee experience, to help customers bulldoze company values throughout their organization.
  • Goals & Performance – content that showcases both long- and brusque-term goals and measurements of performance, to create shared ownership of visitor goals and drive employee operation.
  • Productivity & Appointment – content with data that keeps the company running, day-to-day, facilitating organizational productivity.
  • Safety & Compliance – content with information that supports employee safety and ensures company compliance with regulatory requirements, to assistance create a safe environment and promote safe behavior amongst employees.

Users will also be able to view the Content Category for every slice of content within a aqueduct playlist. However, cards created prior to this release will not contain a content category, and will be considered equally "Unassigned".

An updated YouTube card with improved features and support for playing YouTube playlists and alive streams.

New Features

The YouTube carte du jour v ii.0 comes with the following features and improvements:

  • Power to add and search for YouTube videos, playlists, and live video stream URLs, within the carte du jour.
  • Back up for YouTube video subtitle configuration, which also allows for the subtitle linguistic communication to be set via a device property.
  • Support for the following keyboard controls during playback:
    • Space = Start/Stop
    • Right arrow = Fast Forward (1o sec)
    • Right arrow = Rewind (1o sec)
    • Upward arrow = Volume Increase (+10%)
    • Down arrow = Volume Decrease (-x%)
    • One thousand = Mute On/Off
  • Support for enabling or disabling audio for video.

The YouTube card content creation workflow and card editing user interface has been updated and streamlined in conjunction with the release of the completely redesigned Library module in Appspace eight.0.

Redesigned Carte Editor

The card editor has been updated with a new UI and workflow, which groups key functions and features into tabs and sections for improved user feel, such every bit:

  • Preview tab – this tab appears but after the content is saved and the editor window is opened. Preview options include Responsive,Responsive sixteen:9,2K,4K,Tablet,Phone, orCustom.
  • Edit tab – configure the card layout, message title and summary, logo, groundwork and a featured media/image. Also, depending on bill of fare or template type, you may see these additional sections:
    • Design section – includes customized blueprint options for each card type, which includes colour palette, background, logo, and way selection options.
    • Configuration section – includes customized configuration options for each carte du jour type, such as nautical chart options.
  • Article tab – write the content article, caption, and include a referral link if any.
  • Schedule tab – here you add the content directly to whatsoever existing channel, and configure its playback schedule and brandish properties.
  • Settings tab – in this tab you may add a name for this card, configure its decease engagement, add tags, and add together a thumbnail prototype.

New Category and Tags

When creating a card, you now have the selection to filter results based on tags and bill of fare template categories which are based on bill of fare types such as Messaging, Information, Services, Feeds, and Legacy content – to hands find what you lot need from a huge listing of templates available.

Support for natural duration on YouTube Card

This improvement allows YouTube videos to play till the cease, earlier switching to the next content on the aqueduct playlist, without user intervention.

Previously, users were required to gear up the card duration on the aqueduct playlist to match the YouTube video duration to ensure content is switched only subsequently the video has concluded. This manual process of setting the duration at times causes Appspace App to end the YouTube video a couple of seconds earlier or later.

A maintenance update to the YouTube bill of fare resolves an audio event where audio from video content is muted by default even when the Media Zone widget audio checkbox has been checked.

Technical Limitations & Workaround

Sound Problems

When the audio does not play during YouTube video playback on the YouTube card, may be due to the policy settings on web browsers, where audio is blocked during video playback.

Nosotros recommend setting the autoplay policy to allow audio, when using the following browsers:

Chrome

For enterprise users, would require the It Administrator to set up the policy to always allow autoplay with audio.

For individual users, as the autoplay-policy flag had been removed from Chrome 76, users would be required to fix the autoplay-policy flag via plan arguments.

Safari

Navigate to Safari > Preferences > Websites tab. Ensure the "Machine-Play" option is set to "Allow All Car-Play".

Video Issues

When the display shows "Video unavailable" when running a YouTube playlist, this may be acquired past the outset video in the playlist which does not permit embedding.

  • Close Captioning on YouTube ii.0 card does not function on BrightSign devices with firmware version seven.x. Ensure BrightSign devices are updated to firmware 8.ten, and running Appspace ii.19 and in a higher place, for Close Captioning to work correctly.
